Installation at the Milan Furniture Fair
A Farewell to Hannes Wettstein, 2009
Istitiuto Svizzero, Italy
The Istituto Svizzero invited us to honour our deceased mentor and friend Hannes Wettstein in their spaces on the Via Vecchio Politecnico 3 during the Milan Furniture Fair. The installation ‘A Farewell to Hannes Wettstein’ came about in collaboration with the company horgenglarus.
It is as if one were walking through an autumnal forest at dusk. Wooden slats used in the production of chair legs hang like delicate trees from the ceiling, forming a narrow path leading the visitor to a half-lit space with a scent of dry wood. There, over a floor covered in autumn leaves, 15 hanging wooden sculptures made from the shells of chairs glow. 10 installations from arm-rest and base elements create a poetic soundscape as they strike.
