In 2021, Hürlemann and EM2N Architekten were commissioned to transform two waiting areas in the headquarters of an international financial service provider into spaces of encounter. The intention was to create places of inspiration. As part of this project, Stephan Hürlemann custom-designed a bar table which invites people to interact, work and linger. The blue sculpture, which is around 6 metres long, animates the room with its graceful character as much as it enriches it with its play of colours – since all surfaces except the straight table top are curved, the design demonstrates a variety of blue tones in the face of changing lighting conditions during the day. Thanks to the rounded edges and the materialisation of varnished ash wood, the object feels pleasant and warm. Dimly varnished circles mark the location of Air Charging and thus subtly point to the technology on the inside of the table.
