Oled study
Gulliver's Eye, 2015
1st prototype
Encouraged by the Design Laboratory at the Fachhochschule Nordwestschweiz Basel (Academy of Art and Design), Stephan Hürlemann and his team took part in a research project on the subject of the innovative light source OLED. The lamp Gulliver’s Eye was the result. “I wanted to create a product that created a fitting for the neutral OLED light and which gave it a fresh dynamic” says Stephan Hürlemann. He therefore mounted the OLED light in a glass sphere and laid this on a marble base which reflects the light. The sphere, and thus the light, can easily be positioned with a hand movement. The fine cable which defines the scope of the sphere’s movement links the OLED with the base. A light touch of the marble turns the light on or off and dims it.
