In collaboration with Stephan Hürlemann, Piega added the new Speaker MLS 3 to its Master Series. With its height of 165 cm, a width of 23 cm and depth of 33 cm, the MLS 3 is distinctly more compact than the MLS 2 (and MLS 1), and therefore represents an attractive alternative for smaller spaces.
Speakers are often the visual statement of their sound performance – expressive and striking. With his designs of the Master speakers (MLS 2 and MLS 3) Stephan Hürlemann followed an idea of integrating complex technical detail in a formally modest, linear bod y. «I wanted to design archetypal speakers», says Hürlemann, «that work in every space, yet have a unique presence.» The MLS 3 and MLS 2 obtain their unmistakeable character from the blades on their back surface which diffuse sound backwards. Hürlemann structured this section in such a way that the speaker body is read as a closed volume despite the large opening.
For audiophiles: the Master Line Source represents a masterpiece of loudspeaker construction. Its tone is breathtakingly clear and transmits even the subtlest details. This is thanks to the so-called Piega ‘ribbons’; in the Master Series these are arranged in lines of horizontal layers and radiate sounds in the middle and high tone ranges in the form of a cylinder. In the MLS2 and MLS 3, these ribbons are additionally opened to the rear and act as a dipole through an acoustic lens.
