In 1997, the designer Hannes Wettstein (1958-2008) created a display cabinet for the leading Swiss museum for design and visual communication, the Museum für Gestaltung in Zurich. On the occasion of the building’s renovation (2015-2018), the “Schneewittlisarg“ (“Snow White’s coffin“), as the display case is fondly called by insiders, was restored under the guidance of Stephan Hürlemann. He adapted the cabinet’s colouring to the room’s ambiance and developed a new lighting concept featuring LED bars which illuminate the objects on display without revealing the sources of the light.
In addition to the cabinet, Stephan Hürlemann created mobile postcard stands whose design refers to the form and stylistics of Wettstein’s cabinet.
