Product study on the theme woodwelding®
Paula’s Atelier, 1st prototype, 2015
Röthlisberger, Switzerland
Paula’s Atelier is a table and a shelving system in and on which tools can be individually placed. The design celebrates the nature and identity of honeycomb board rather than concealing it. At the edges the nature of this lightweight board covered with synthetic resin is openly displayed. This honest use gives the board a self-assured beauty. At the same time the design addresses and uses the particular advantages of this material, such as its lightness and stability. Pre-bored holes allow the tools to be positioned as needed. Thanks to the innovative technology of woodwelding® the drawers, pigeonholes, shelf supports etc. can be directly connected to the board that forms the desk-top directly. The floor remains uncluttered as the wastepaper basket hangs from the board and the cable runs along the underside of the desk-top with the help of a cable tray and cable “mushrooms”.
